New Marzocchi Z1 Disc Adapter 1996+ Formular (FS) -> International Standard (IS)
Another Part I wanted to do for years as I have about 25 orange Marzocchi Z1 from the beginning having Formular Disc Mounts.
Peoples like the legendary Marzocchi Z1 and after a repaint I will sell them and I like to have Disc Adapters for them using Disc Brakes!
You probably know Marzocchi startet building the orange Z1 in 1996 with Formular (FS) Standard Disc Brakes – that was the defacto Standard in that time – and later around 1999 they switched to IS.
This adapter is similiar to the well known Magura one, it will not fit to all Brake Disc Brands & Types, but with little adustments it is a perfect base & can be make easy to fit.
Further more I have been asked about Fomular Standard (FS) to Post Mount (PM) Adapter!
This is an easy task :
simply take this adapter, it defines FS & IS standard geometry and needed parts locations
this is a rock solid adapter, able to handle a sit-on adapter
add a Post Mount (PM) Adapter; as there are a lot of PM Adapters, take the one which is related to your Disc Sizes
Left is a Shimano Disc Brake using additional PM Adapter with 180mm Disc Size.
Right Side is an unknown Disc Brake using additional PM Adapter with 160mm Disc Size.

This tool is used in a lot of ROCO’s from 2007 up to 2015 (!) and is not available anymore. It’s for SALE!

My intention was to check 3D CAD modelling, if this can be done as it is not a simple part. After we made it, we decided to create a milled prototype to test the dimensions – that’s a common & absolut needed task, but sometimes too time and costs intensive.
With the help of a friend (thanks, Michael!!) we did a prototype and learnt, that the 3D modell and all dimensions are as it best.
It’s made out of well known air plane metal Aluminium 7075 and has been produced in Germany. We will do a small series. If you need one, please drop me a note!!🖐

That’s a post I did yesterday @ FB about Production Updates. If you read my post you probably know I’m in a very productive phase doing a lot of 3D CAD Modelling and production of older Vintage/Retro Parts for older Marzocchi Forks including the following parts :
In Production now : Z1/Z2 Disc Adapter FS-IS & older Monster Axle <=2005!!

Marzocchi Disc Adapter for early Z1 / Z2 using Formular (FS) Standard & Marzocchi Thrue Axle for MONSTER’ up to 2005 are in Production now.
Both parts will be from excellent quality, CNC machined, optimized surface silver anodized.
As usual for our Parts we are starting selling now with Early-Buyer-Offer, means : You can buy this Parts now for a lower price until they arrived here to support the project!! Estimated arrivial time : 3 weeks.

I managed to create the 3D CAD Model + Drawing and will now try to produce a batch of this FS to IS Disc Adapter out of aluminium 6061.
As you might know there are a lot of early Z1 and Z2 forks outside, which have FS (Formular) Disc Mounts, which have been the up-to-date when Marzocchi produced the first Z1 Bombers starting in 1996/1997.
I have about 40x early Z1 and Z2 in stock and for me this is an option for customers, who want such a fork for their 90’s Bike Projects – like the Canti Hanger I have also created for the ones wanted to use Z1/Z2 with standard Cantilever Brakes (no V-Brake).
This well known adapter is in form & geometry similiar to one of the older Magura ones which have been used to mount Gustav …on the Z1. The idea is, to take this and when your disc brake does not fit excactly you need to grind it a little, as the basic dimensions will fit.
What we have here are the Marzocchi Tools named ‘Slider Protector’ or ‘Oil Seal Extractor’ which helps to lever the Oil Seal out of the lower without damage anything.
Wondering if there have been more variants?
The design changed a lot, depends on the casting type. Most of them are made out of aluminium + anodized, the 35 & 40mm ones are made out of steel.
30 and 32mm forks came with 2 variants of castings : the ‘classic style’ (flanged/with edge around) and the ‘m-arch style’. That’s why we have 2 types of tool design for 30mm. I did not found a slider protector classic style for 30mm, but Marzocchi did 2 in ‘m-arch style’ – the black one is an update from 2007.
The 35mm one is named as ‘Shiver Slider Protector 536024AR/C’, wondering if there was another variant for other forks?
The 40mm one is named ‘Monster T Slider Protector’ 536064GG/C.
I think until the end of the year for each size TOOLS (*1) and SEAL-KITs will be available in a more usefull DIY kit, maybe Repair Kits also. 30 and 32 mm are already in stock, 35mm expecting soon.
